There are several technical elements to consider with every practice and performance. The right setup or equipment can make the difference between an agonizing session and the perfect recital. Somewhere to stick your pin, the cello at the right height, right angle and a chair that’s both comfortable and sloping forward with the right ergonomics.

You don’t need to be one of the few featured soloists at the front of the orchestra to deserve a soloist podium, many orchestras will raise their cellists off the base floor using a musician’s podium, not to physically raise them above the other instrumentalists (although this may be a side benefit), but to enhance their sound.
